As an LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse) you will have the ability to make anywhere between $30,000 to $40,000 in a year. In this job you will be working under the supervision of a doctor or registered nurse. You will have the ability to work in a hospital, nursing home, or private health care offices.
Education Requirements
In order to become an LPN you must have a license and the right schooling. You can attend a community or technical college for a year and learn medical terminology, anatomy, how to take vitals, and other important skills needed for the job. After you are finished you will need to pass the state board examination.
Working In A Hospital
When you are working in a hospital as an LPN it will be your responsibility to provide the most basic of care to each patient. You will have to take all of their vitals, record them in their charts, and report any dramatic changes.
Working In Nursing Homes
In a nursing home you will be taking care of the long term health care problems that the elderly and disabled are forced to deal with. It will be your job to give them medication every day and see how they react to it. You will also be required to help them to eat and bathe when they are unable to do it themselves. It is also important for you to clean and monitor the equipment that is used by each patient.
Working In Private Offices
When working inside of a private doctor’s office an LPN will be required to take care of the immediate needs of patients. They might have to perform certain examination, routine lab tests, or give injections. Most of all they will be required to take care of the clerical work and scheduling of appointments.
