New Grad Nursing Jobs

First I’d like to extend a congratulations for graduating, or getting close to getting close to becoming a new grad! You’re likely (hopefully) looking for your first job and whether you’ve got your ADN (associates degree) or BSN (bachelor of science) I’m sure you’ve been promised by your professors that the job openings are vast and the placements are fast. Well, they’re not.

At least not always, and while the RN (registered nurse) field is growing and the demand is expected to be immense in the near future – for now it’s difficult finding new graduate nursing jobs with in the current market. I sincerely hope that you’re not just expecting placement after graduation. There’s often a backlog and it can take months or longer to find a position. None of us can or want to go that long without a job.

Part of this problem lies in the cost of training new nurses. It seems these days many hospitals and care facilities would rather pay overtime than risk the time, effort and money to train a new nurse fresh out of grad school. Then, to make matters more difficult you’ve got the state licensing issues that often make it harder to find jobs out of your area – where their might be work.

It sometimes seems unfair when a CNA or LPN finds placement easier than you – but you’ve got to persevere and be persistent. At the moment employers have a deep pool of talent to choose from, so those with experience are finding jobs easier. Your going to have to go above and beyond what a typical grad student would do in order to stand out and land a residency. I hope that this blog will give you some insight as to how you can find a spot to start your nursing career after graduating from school. With this knowledge we also hope that you succeed and one day find yourself as the head nurse supervisor or that you have advanced your skills with additional schooling.

You’ll find here tips and advice for finding a new job in the nursing field as a recent grad. What you won’t find is a list of new or available residencies, auto-updated listings of states hiring or job fair postings. If you’re looking for a job in the UK, US, Texas, Ohio or wherever then you’re better suited to using a search engine for that. I’m offering more generic information that will help to give you an idea of what you’re facing out in the market when looking for new graduate nursing jobs. I’ll leave the due diligence to you.
